02) Character Research
미키마우스
디즈니를 대표하는 미키마우스는 몇 십년이 지나도 변함없이 인기 있는 캐릭터이다. 잠깐 유행한 뒤 잊혀지는 캐릭터가 아니라 이렇게 오랫동안 사랑받을 수 있을 만큼 잘 만들어진 캐릭터라고 생각한다. 징그럽고 불청결한 이미지로 인식되고 있는 ‘쥐’가 귀엽고 친근한 이미지로 잘 표현된 것 같다. 애니메이션뿐 아니라 캐릭터를 상품화 하여 셀 수 없이 다양한 상품을 통해 미키마우스를 접할 수 있고, ‘디즈니랜드’ 라는 놀이공원까지 존재할 정도로 캐릭터의 위력이 대단하다.
뿌까

어릴 때 애니메이션을 통해 많이 접해온 토종 우리나라 캐릭터이다. 한국인의 정서에 맞는 캐릭터이기 때문에 더 친숙하고 정감 있다. 더욱 전략있는 마케팅을 통해 우리나라에서뿐만 아니라 해외에서 우리나라를 대표하는 캐릭터로서 자리매김했으면 좋겠다.

We consider that a mouse is nasty and dirty. But, Mickey Mouse was expressed as a lovely and familiar mouse. We can see this character in an animation and various goods. Even amusement parks that was made by The Walt Disney Company exist.

Pucca looks like a character made in China, but it was made in Korea. This character that aimed at overseas markets was made of several circles and straight lines so that people can draw easily. Pucca is more familiar because its eyes that was drawn a straight line is oriental and the name is pronounced easily and funny. Perhaps this explains why Pucca was a success in overseas markets.
